Such a lovely read. And totally my ethos too - so magical that you’re crafting these new memories with your daughter. It’s not about the tat and the gifts ✨
It always amazes me how much we can heal our own internal divides by observing how children move through the world with such wonder. I'm so glad you were paying attention and received the invitation for your entire family to create something nostalgic and new.
Yes, it is truly a wonderful world! I observe my daughter a lot and have for example also started greeting non-human creatures (like ants) and non-living objects (like our house), because I was inspired by her. She have taught me so much already, and I cannot wait to learn more from her ❤️
I love this, Anne! I, too, have been rediscovering the magic of Christmas this year after being disillusioned by the overconsumption of it all the last few years. It's a great feeling when you reconnect with the real magic of this time of year. Your wreath is lovely!
I feel like I have been like you too, frowning at Christmas consumerism. Then last year, my son brought his friend home for the holidays and I put up lights and some decorations and bought some gifts to share. I felt excited and happy. Thanks for sharing your story! I would love to have snow, but I live in a more tropical climate and can only dream.
Aww, that sounds so lovely. It is really amazing what we can all of the sudden see when we look at the world through the eyes of our children. There is so much magic for adults too if only we allow ourselves to partake in the festivitas ❤️
We've been "breaking up" with commercialised Christmas for years. Family and friends don't understand, but this year, I feel the changes we've made worth the effort. It feels more living, more magical, decorating with nature and no plastic. I felt the warmth of your words and imagine the light shining from your windows. Thank you for this! It's so good to know we're not alone. xx
Thank you, Laura! We’ve had some trouble in communicating this mindset with family and friends as well, but have found that it really helps to set a good example and invite people over to Christmas baking for example or to wish for and give homemade gifts to a select few. After years of trying to pull in another direction I can now see my nearest starting to go down the same path, and it’s just very lovely to not be so alone in celebrating a non-commercialised Christmas ❤️
I felt so much warmth and delight reading this. I can't agree more on how commercialised Christmas has become and the need to invite simplicity and own traditions into this time of the year and all year round really.
Thank you Mariam, I think you are so right! I’ve been trying to do just that for the whole year, but for some reason I have left december completely out of it till now! But there really is so much more joy in celebrating simple and in your own way than not ❤️

Exactly! It’s all about the magic, really, and magic cannot be bought, but is created ✨
Peaceful, beautiful way to celebrate Christmas.
Thank you, I feel so too ❤️

It truly is very special and as you say: a reconnection ❤️

Totally hear you. It’s easy to get cynical. Leaning into the Wonder and Beauty and Miraculous.
